Economic Zone World has appointed McLaren to construct a major new office and workshop development in Dubai for General Electric. The warehouse will be split into four sections for the group’s various manufacturing divisions.
The project consists of around 54,000 sq ft of basement car parking and plant areas, a three storey reinforced concrete frame building and over 75,000 sq ft of steel frame warehouse.
Due to site restrictions, the basement will be supported using a central vertical king post shoring system. Dewatering systems will also be needed to provide reductions in ground water levels.
The project includes all associated external works. Instructions for the substantial fit out will be issued shortly.
The building is designed to Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Silver Certification but it is anticipated that the requirements will be uplifted to achieve LEED Gold Certification.
