Once the home of the trade union UNISON, the 1970s commercial block, One Mabledon Place, is currently undergoing major refurbishment. McLaren is carrying out considerable structural works to the basement and ground floor, reconfiguring upper floors and altering the original façade.
The extensive refurbishment works includes major structural alterations to the basement and ground floor, with the existing structural core being removed in its entirety and replaced. New lift cores are to be constructed from the basement to level four and up to level six, and there will be extensive roof level works and reconfiguration of the upper floors.
Externally, the existing façade will be altered and/or repaired and all external glazing systems will be replaced with new Schuco curtain walling. Internally, McLaren will carry out a Category A fit out to provide 140,000 sq ft of office space fitted out to the highest standard.
Located on one of London’s main high streets, in a close proximity to Euston train station, the project is logistically challenging, requiring McLaren to put in place robust management and segregation plans. Effectively managing pollution, traffic, noise pollution and working within confined spaces is fundamental to the success of this project.
