Rolls-Royce Technology Centre

This two stage design and build contract comprises the construction of one single storey 200,000 sq ft unit and one single storey 100,000 sq ft unit. These will form a new technology centre for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.

The steel frame units are built on piled foundations and suspended concrete ground floor slabs. The larger unit has an interior two storey office area fitted out with office and welfare spaces. The main area is for distribution of parts to the assembly plant in Goodwood five miles away.

There are several ancillary offices for parts quality and inspection. Other areas include Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and picking and parts distribution.

McLaren is also carrying out engineering services, including the installation of heating and ventilation, compressed air, above ground drainage, photovoltaic cells, sprinklers, fire alarms, smoke ventilation, lightning protection, emergency lighting, CCTV, commissioning management and voice and data services to office and welfare areas.

The smaller building is mainly a fleet management garage with facilities to store and maintain the Rolls-Royce vehicles fleet. Externally, the site includes lorry access, car parking areas, pedestrian paving, landscaped areas, sprinkler tank base, gate house and security fencing, external lighting and utility services.
