McLaren secured the 80 bedroom hotel project in central London for developer Frogmore that is currently being constructed for the end occupier D&D who form part of the Terrence Conran Group. The building once completed will be promoted as a restaurant with rooms to ensure that maximum publicity is given to the 7th floor restaurant that includes an outdoor terrace area.
The project is currently in progress and Mclaren are using a number of innovative methods of construction to ensure the project completes on time for June 2012. These methods include using a twinwall precast solution for the walls and omnia decking for the upper slabs of the concrete frame. We are also using a modular backing structure to the rainscreen cladding that enables us to get the building watertight as fast as possible.
Other interesting features of the building include the hybrid of silver anodized and bronze powder coated rainscreen cladding that inclines from the 5th floor to roof. Internally the finishes have been designed to a high specification that include fumed oak to specialist joinery items.
Thu building itself along with the 80 bedrooms on levels and roof top restaurant includes a bar and brasserie on the ground floor and corporate meeting rooms a gym and sauna on the 1st floor. In total there are nine floors – basement to 7th floor.
