This project involved the construction of 500,000 sq ft of industrial and office units as part of the London Olympics re-location plan.
As part of the ODA remit this project delivers 10% renewable energy and this has been achieved by incorporating the following carbon friendly initiatives:
Ground source heat pump – 140 closed circuit pipework loops sunk in 120m deep boreholes provide low temperature heating for the industrial units via under floor heating pipework cast into the floor slabs.
Roof Mounted photvoltaics providing electricity to support the building’s base load
Roof mounted solar panels to heat the domestic hot water.
Passivent – collecting vanes on the roof provide fresh air to the offices without the need of fans therefore reducing electricity consumption.
