It also has a combined heat and power plant (CHP) fuelled by renewable bio-fuels, providing low temperature hot water to the stores air handling units and electricity to the store, exporting surplus electricity to the national grid.
In addition the chilled cabinets, often one of the biggest blackspots for food retailers, have doors fitted to save energy with harmful HFC refrigerant gases being replaced CO2. Finally to minimise energy usage a comprehensive metering system has been installed so that energy use can constantly monitored.
