The project to construct a 46,000 sq ft retail unit for the Royal London Group will take place over 46 weeks. Once complete the store will be occupied by American fashion brand Forever 21. The Liverpool store will be their third in the UK, with the two in London and one Birmingham.
As the brands 'Flagship' store in the North West, this impressive retail space will be set across 5 floors.
The steel frame building will be made up of a sub-basement sprinkler storage area, a retail basement, with 4 retail levels above and a plant room on the roof. The buildings high specification facade will be a combination of structural glazing, stone tender, and stone and copper cladding.
A striking feature of the store will be its main entrance on the ground floor where the wall leans away from the main structure, creating an internal atrium.
Situated on one of Liverpool's busiest high streets the project will be logistically very challenging. Robust management regarding pollution, noise and working within confined spaces will be fundamental in the successful delivery of the works, and in mitigating disruption to the local shopping environment, the surrounding retail units and the nearby market traders.
The area is fully pedestrianised so site traffic and deliveries are only permitted at set times, when the shopping area is closed to the public. Coordination with the surrounding business in regards to their delivery times will also be required.
Lines of communication between the project team, the surrounding retailers and the areas market traders will be kept open throughout the works with regular update meetings and newsletters.
