McLaren Construction has been appointed as the lead design and build contractor on Essential Living’s Farrier House scheme in Bethnal Green, East London.

McLaren are also responsible for the enabling works. Once completed, the two former warehouses will be transformed into six and eight storey residential buildings containing 104 homes for rent and 149 affordable homes.

A full range of on-site residents’ facilities will be provided, including a concierge, clubroom, rooftop communal terraces and library.

Farrier House will be the first purpose designed rental development in the area, providing housing for rent in a city where one in three rents privately.

David Miller, Regional Managing Director – London, McLaren Construction said: “Essential Living’s unique approach to design is challenging norms and offering a genuine option to Britain’s nine million renters. McLaren are excited to be a part of the Farrier House scheme which promises to offer an innovative new type of rental product in the capital.”

The first homes are due to go on sale in early 2016.
