Latest win consolidates McLaren’s extensive reach in distribution sector

McLaren Construction has announced the award of a trio of new projects by leading logistics and industrial warehouse developer IDI Gazeley with a combined value of £40m. The projects started on site at the beginning of April.

They include three separate, individual warehouse development projects for IDI Gazeley with two of the projects located at IDI Gazeley’s flagship UK logistics and distribution Park Magna Park Milton Keynes and the other at G.Park Daventry, which McLaren won after a competitive tender process.

All three developments will be constructed within a short timescale and will feature two storey office accommodation, security gatehouse, standard loading docks together with parking spaces for HGV trailers as well as cars, a few of which will have electric charging points.

The announcement follows the successful handover and completion by McLaren of a new 934,000 sq ft National Distribution Centre also for IDI Gazeley at Magna Park Milton Keynes on behalf of UK supermarket retailer Waitrose. The building, which represents one of the largest distribution centres ever built in the UK and by McLaren was completed in a world record 32 week programme from the erection of the first steel.

All of the developments are to be constructed to achieve an EPC “A” rating together with the BREEAM ‘Excellent’ status.

These projects mark a decade of successful partnership and relationship between McLaren and IDI Gazeley.

Commenting on the announcement Phil Pringle, Managing Director, and McLaren Construction said: “We are absolutely delighted to be awarded this ‘hat trick’ of development projects for one of our most respected and longest-serving customers, IDI Gazeley. Our extensive experience and expertise within the distribution sector has once again been recognised by IDI Gazeley in the award of these projects. This is testament to the hard work, dedication and skill of our construction and project teams which are some of the best in the industry. We look forward to delivering another successful outcome for IDI Gazeley and working together again in future.”
