Deane Road multi storey car park in Bolton was developed to provide 815 new car parking spaces for local businesses and the nearby Bolton College campus. McLaren worked with the design team to provide the best return on investment for the customer.
Built over six levels, the Deane Road car park was designed to meet the high operational standards demanded by NCP. The layout uses the economic Vertical Circulation Module (VCM) with clear span bays to reduce column obstructions and provide an efficient parking scheme and increased manoeuvrability.
In order to engender a bright and welcoming feel, while maintaining the necessary robustness demanded by the operator, the parking decks and main circulation spaces are well lit and finished to a high standard.
The scheme was procured through a two stage tender process with the customer. This saw McLaren develop the design process, with the design team, through to construction stage. By investigating the most efficient construction solutions at an early stage, McLaren provided an efficient cost outcome for the customer.
The confined nature of the site meant clear coordination was needed with the adjacent land owners, including Network Rail and the Greater Manchester Fire Service, to ensure the works did not affect other operations.
