Due to the increase of vehicle movements planned on the next phase of the Paul Street mixed use development site, the McLaren site team organised for road safety assemblies to be held at neighbouring Lyceum Primary School in East London.
Ensuring public safety is a key priority for McLaren Construction and so with the help of Considerate Constructor mascot Ivor Goodsite, site manager Steve Wallace and his team presented to ninety children to help them understand the importance of ‘stop, look and listen’. The children were thrilled to also each personally receive a goody bag from Ivor after the assemblies, and steal a quick photo with the site hero!
Steve and his team also held separate presentations with the staff at the school to communicate why there will be an increase in vehicle movements in the coming months, and how they can work with McLaren Construction to help keep the children safe from harm.
Jeremy D Rowe, head teacher of Lyceum School said: “One of the most important things in education is to make sure children are safe. This applies to road safety and many other aspects of children’s lives, and it is especially important that everyone involved in education is aware of the dangers of building sites. At The Lyceum, we prioritise safety, and we were delighted by the Ivor Goodsite presentation.”
The Paul Street Project is a mixed use development comprising a mix of student accommodation to accommodate 456 students, 144 sqm of retail space and 5,400 sqm of commercial space for the development arm of the McLaren group, McLaren Property. The prestigious project located close to Liverpool Street in London is due to complete in June 2015.
