McLaren and SEGRO celebrated the start of construction on site of a new £10m warehouse ‘industrial complex’ with associated office space in Park Royal, London.

The development, named Origin, will be one of the capital’s prime sites for urban distribution and logistics while attracting new investment, employment and growth in the industrial market sector.

The speculative scheme comprises a site of 22 acres split over two phases. Phase 1 is the design and construction of three sustainable industrial warehouse units of 36,360 sq ft, 53,150 sq ft and 68,690 sq ft. These three units will accommodate office space and external areas include a site access road, Section 278 works, secure service yards, car parks and landscaping.

The ground breaking event held today (27 March 2014) was attended by senior executives from SEGRO and local councillors alongside McLaren directors and the site team, who together marked the commencement of construction works of the flagship site.

This contract win sees McLaren Construction adding further strength and depth to its customer relationships in the industrial sector and low carbon capabilities.

David Murphy, Regional Director of McLaren Construction, said: “We are delighted to mark the construction of this speculative development with SEGRO and we look forward to bringing our extensive experience and delivery track record in the industrial sector to enable SEGRO’s ambitions for this scheme.”

Construction works began on 10 March and will be completed in November 2014 within a challenging 34 week duration.

McLaren is pleased to renew its relationship with SEGRO and looks forward to successfully handing over the scheme in November.
