McLaren Construction has been appointed as the lead contractor to deliver the main construction works for Dar Group’s new UK headquarters in Holborn.

Designed by Perkins & Will, the 185,000 sq ft mixed-use development over nine floors will replace the current 1980’s office block, incorporating retail units on the ground floor and a neighbouring residential block containing 13 apartments. The development will provide space for a number of companies under the Dar Group, including Dar, Perkins + Will, Currie & Brown, Elementa, IPA Advisory, Penspen and Maffeis. The brief encouraged for the Group’s member companies to be brought together under the same roof in order to collaborate and exchange ideas.

150 Holborn’s façade is made up of glass reinforced concrete, which complements similar, concrete materials visible in the area. The inside will feature a central entrance lobby, which includes a street facing café, exhibition and reception space, an atrium with feature staircase and sweeping roof pavilion with roof gardens. The project will target a number of sustainability measures, including BREEAM Outstanding, LEED Platinum and SKA Gold.

The design will connect and contextually link 150 Holborn to its surroundings, whilst providing the building with its own distinctive identity, acting as a landmark for the growing ‘midtown’ neighbourhood.

David Miller, Regional Managing Director, McLaren Construction London commented:

‘’We are delighted to have been selected by Dar Group for this prestigious project. This appointment celebrates the strategic growth for the McLaren London region and we are confident that our strong experience within the commercial sector will result in this project having a very successful outcome for all stakeholders.’’

Andrew Loudon, UK MD for Dar, said:

We are also very pleased to announce the appointments of McLaren Construction and John F Hunt.
