The Sainsbury supermarket in Northumberland Park is part of the wider Northumberland Development Project that includes a proposed new stadium for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. McLaren was appointed as the Main Contractor to deliver the new supermarket and commercial/educational space.
This phase of the development involved the construction of a new 130,000 sq ft supermarket, one of the largest of its kind in London, with 72,000 sq ft of sales floor operated by Sainsbury’s.
Additionally, McLaren developed 110,000 sq ft of commercial/educational space above the supermarket and a 486 space car park at ground level, external works and public realm landscaping.
McLaren ensured the new supermarket development was delivered in line with a strict contractor code of conduct, similar to that employed in Enfield, (another scheme McLaren completed for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club providing them with a new Training Academy) and that work was carried out responsibly and sensitively.
