Project Dragonfly in Erith is the new build distribution warehouse for the UK’s only online supermarket, Ocado.
The warehouse sits on a circa 40 acre site close to the River Thames. The warehouse unit when complete will have 560,000 sq ft of distribution space with offices totalling 27,857 sq ft. The warehouse unit will have 72 dock and 16 level access doors, and room for 326 cars and 287 HGVs. The project comprises of a large cut and fill exercise with extensive remediation. The enabling and demolition works involved processing the soils, breaking up old foundations and recycling/reusing the waste within the new works, crushing & screening the heavily reinforced concrete to generate shingles and sand, which were necessary for the whole of the permanent works. The project also involved the excavation of 24,000 m3 from borrow pits to generate the temporary material to construct the earthworks profiles, capping off with the generated crushed material.
