Open Doors 2018 at the McLaren Wembley site
McLaren Construction’s Wembley Park site took part in the Open Doors initiative on 21 March. It was a unique chance for members of the public to get an insight into what goes on behind the scenes on construction sites across England, Scotland and Wales. Participants were able to find out a bit more about how buildings and structures at Wembley Park are constructed and learn about the diverse range of skills and professions needed on site.
12 people from across the London Borough of Brent took part in the event including students from Ark Academy Secondary School. Members of the site team held a presentation about the development, allowing the students to learn more about this growing industry and find out how one can start their career in construction. After the presentation, the students were taken around the construction site, giving them a chance to ask any questions about the build and the construction programme.
McLaren values these sort of events, as it gives the public an overview of the developments in their community and the students an understanding how the dynamics of the construction industry work. It is important that McLaren commits to educating young people about the industry and the different careers within it.
Over 3,000 people registered to visit over 130 construction sites in England, Scotland and Wales during the Open Doors initiative.
