Delivered in March 2023, this landmark project at The British School Al Khubairat introduced a state-of-the-art Science and Innovation Centre, significantly enhancing the school’s capacity to deliver cutting-edge education in STEAM subjects—Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics.
Educational Impact
The new facility not only provides advanced laboratory spaces for science teaching but also frees up space across the existing campus. This has enabled the creation of specialist classrooms, improved Sixth Form facilities, and an upgraded sports hall, reinforcing the school’s commitment to delivering a world-class educational experience.

Construction Challenges
The multi-storey building was constructed within a live, fully operational school environment, in a location with restricted access and tight logistics. The project required close coordination with students, parents, and school operations, particularly around complex vehicle movements and site access.
Phased Delivery and Fast-Track Works
The first phase, completed in December 2021, involved the fast-track installation of new service routes through much of the existing school. This critical work had to be completed during the December shutdown and fully operational by the start of the new term in January, making timing and precision essential.
Fit-Out and Completion
Following the structural build, McLaren completed the full fit-out of the new facilities, delivering a modern, functional, and inspiring environment for students and staff alike.
