AMC Connectivity Corridors and Concourse Bridge
Enhanced pedestrian access on Al Maryah Island through upgraded bridges, rooftop walkways, retail spaces, and landscaped public areas.

This complex redevelopment involved upgrading the concourse bridge and constructing rooftop connectivity corridors between car parks and malls, integrating retail fit-outs, structural enhancements, and landscaped public spaces.
Key points
Transforming Retail Connectivity across Al Maryah Island
A key component of the project was the transformation of the existing concourse link bridge between The Galleria and Al Maryah Central (AMC) Mall.
The works began with the full strip-out of legacy finishes and services, including MEP systems, partitions, marble flooring, screed, and external cladding. The bridge was then reconfigured to accommodate new retail units, featuring premium finishes such as marble flooring, bespoke Barrisol feature ceilings, and integrated building services - all aligned with AMC’s design standards.
Design-led delivery with precision and partnership
McLaren inherited the Concourse Bridge design at the 50% schematic stage and progressed delivery under a Design and Build contract. In collaboration with design partner GHD, the team validated and developed the scheme to 100% detailed design, ensuring full compliance with the Employer’s Requirements.
This design-led approach enabled seamless integration of new retail spaces into the existing mall infrastructure, maintaining architectural consistency while introducing modern enhancements.
Engineering excellence in elevated construction
The second phase involved the modification of two rooftop connectivity corridors linking the North and South car parks of The Galleria Mall with AMC. This element presented significant logistical challenges due to its elevated location, requiring meticulous planning around road closures, night-time deliveries, and material handling.
The scope included new construction of blockwork, concrete foundations, and steel-framed corridors, finished with standing seam roofing and external sandwich panel cladding. Internally, the corridors were fitted out with marble flooring, MEP installations, stud partitions, curtain wall glazing, and suspended ceilings.
Above the car park roofs, McLaren delivered two landscaped zones designed to offer green public spaces for leisure and future events—adding long-term value to the development and enhancing the urban experience.
